Official – Twitter Offers WordPress Plugin

Twitter has launched an official WordPress plugin. How does this plugin make your life easy as a user of WordPress? It combines many features which were made available to you through a third party app. For example it has the ability to embed a tweet, and it embeds videos uploaded directly to Twitter.

But, I was under the impression that WordPress already embeds tweets. Yes, that is right. So what is the difference of having this additional plugin? There is a difference; with this plugin you can now not only embed tweets but also customize them to match with the rest of the blog theme (design).

When you use the old way of embedding tweets you are stuck with the default colour scheme. But, the new plugin has some great features, you can customize backgrounds and font colours, the way you wish to. Now, embedded Twitter cards have link previews.

One more benefit of this official plugin is when Twitter implements a new feature it gets added to the plugin. Let me give an example; Twitter recently allowed users to upload videos directly to Twitter. So consequently this plugin would support the ability to embed tweets with those videos.

Thanks to this plugin you can use new features of Twitter on WordPress real fast instead of waiting for next WordPress core update.

Features of official Twitter Plugin for WordPress

Twitter Analytics – As your content is shared across Twitter this plugin looks at your content’s popularity and helps you to understand it.
