I was browsing through my fan pages and all of a sudden one notice highlighted in blue box caught my attention. Facebook was telling me that now I can upload videos as fan page cover. No more static images as Facebook cover. That was pretty exciting.
I immediately jumped on to my another fan page and there too, same notice and same ability to upload video as cover. More excited now. I decided to upload a video but got an error, the error said the video has to be of at-least 20 seconds in duration and suggested width and height is 862 X 468 pixels. Damn!
I spent some time in deciding on video to be uploaded but my ability to upload video as cover vanished. Now, I was only able to upload picture as cover. That was disappointing.
I immediately went back to my first fan page where i saw the notice for the first time. Ahhhh! I can still upload a video here. This time, I ensured that I had a video with minimum 20 seconds duration ready with me.
How to Put Video as Cover For Facebook Fan Page?
Process to choose a video as cover is similar to choosing a picture as cover. For my fan page FB had enabled video upload for cover, in below screen grab you can see user can also choose an already uploaded video.
Setting Up Video Cover For Facebook Fan Page
Once you chose video, Facebook will start to upload the video. Upon completing, Facebook will allow you to re-position video so that you can choose and set position and how to represent video as cover. At this time Facebook will also show you message that this video needs to published before other can see it.
You will have to click on Next.
In next step, user will have to choose a thumbnail image from 10 FB provided options. As indicated earlier, Facebook will use this thumbnail image to display when video cannot be shown.
That is it, you will have to click on Publish button and your new Video cover is live and your fans can enjoy it.
