With the end of this year 2014 new WordPress 4.1 has many improved features for its users. All this comes packed with a brand new default theme for 2015. In this article I will discuss newly added features of WordPress 4.1

Brand New Theme – Twenty Fifteen

WordPress 4.1 brings an extremely aesthetic and beautiful theme for you, called Twenty Fifteen. This theme along with being elegant and clean is customizable. It is especially designed keeping mobile devices in mind; no doubt that it looks quite beautiful on other devices too. Twenty Fifteen uses Google’s Noto Font Family and was built with improved support for internalization. In fact the aim of the Noto Font family is to support all unicode supported languages and scripts.

The best part of the Twenty Fifteen theme is that it facilitates the usage of tools that are available in the Customizer. The customizer is meant to let the users fully customize the appearance. Twenty Fifteen gives you a choice of 6 colour schemes.

Distraction Free Mode

WordPress 4.1 makes the life of its users easy. It is now packed with distraction free writing mode. You just have to click on the distraction free editor button to start and launch the distraction free mode. As soon as you start to write, all the distractions on the screen will automatically fade away like meta boxes.

New distraction free editor mode fades away the meta boxes from the post edit screen. It is quite simple for the user as these meta boxes fade back when your mouse is moved out of the post editor.

Imaging inside the post made easy

Aligning media (images) to centre, left or right required you to click on edit button which will open media editor and then set the alignment. The inline image editing toolbar introduced in WordPress 4.1 makes life a bit easier. It lets you easily align the images without the need to open it in the media editor.

Language Pack option

If you don’t choose the language while you install or want to change it at later stage, WordPress has an amazing option where you can change the language by going to settings à General. You can choose the language from the drop down menu and WordPress gets the language pack of your choice installed.

WordPress 4.1 Now Recommends Plugins

For the convenience of the users and for their benefit, WordPress 4.1 recommends some plugins that you should try. These recommendations depend on what other plugins you have installed. Under plugins à Add New you can see recommended tab.

For theme and plugin developers this comes as an additional benefit. They can use advanced conditional logic, multiple operators in the meta, date and term queries.

Title tags:

WordPress will allow developers to control document title and this will not clash with WordPress generated title tags.
